Concerns are rapidly growing about the deadly new virus, coronavirus, a fast-growing epidemic in China. The number of people infected or dying of this virus rising rapidly regardless of quarantines and other efforts to cease its spread. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is closely monitoring an outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus. It was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. Based on new numbers:
<ul>
<li>106 people had died from the coronavirus that is believed to have originated in the central city of Wuhan and is spreading across the country, as of January 27, 2020. </li>
<li>The number of confirmed cases increased from 2,835 on Monday (January 27) to 4,515 on Tuesday (January 28), according to the National Health Commission, jumping nearly 60 percent overnight. </li>
<li>Additional cases have been identified in a growing number of other&nbsp;international locations, including&nbsp;the United States.&nbsp;

<li>Thailand has reported 14 cases of infection; </li>
<li>Hong Kong has eight; </li>
<li>the United States, Taiwan, Australia and Macau have five each; </li>
<li>Singapore, South Korea, and Malaysia each have reported four; </li>
<li>Japan has seven; </li>
<li>France has three; </li>
<li>Canada and Vietnam have two; </li>
<li>and Nepal, Cambodia, and Germany each have one. </li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>There have been no deaths outside China. </li>
</ul>
The novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a virus that causes an outbreak of respiratory illness. Early on, many patients had some link to a large seafood and animal market, suggesting animal-to-person spread. However, the growing number of patients reportedly have not had exposure to animal markets, indicating person-to-person spread is occurring. There are seven strains of coronaviruses, which infect humans, including this new virus, causing illnesses in the respiratory tract. Two others, by contrast, rank among the deadliest of human infections: SARS and Middle East respiratory syndrome, or MERS. A related infectious disease, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), which erupted in China in 2002 and spread globally in 2003. SARS killed about 10% of the people it infected, while about 3% of the people who are infected by coronavirus have died. It appears that coronavirus infection is less deadly; however, early disease modeling suggests that it may spread more easily compared to SARS.

The infection mechanism of the novel coronavirus is still unknown; however, the viruses that cause SARS and MERS, which originated in bats, provide clues. There is currently no vaccine to prevent 2019-nCoV infection. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to this virus.&nbsp;
Coronavirus Impacts on Economy
&nbsp;The stock market has experienced sharp losses around the world. On January 27, the Dow Jones Industrial Average observed its fifth consecutive daily decline, dropping 453.93 points, or 1.6%. The S&amp;P 500 also declined 1.6%, its first drop of more than 1% since October. Investors abandoned stocks in Asia, while markets in Europe rebounded, and the stock market futures in the United States rose. The Dow Jones rebounded 200 points on January 28, intraday (as of 11:30 am).
Shares of companies in infectious diseases and vaccines field; such as Inovio Pharmaceuticals (INO), Moderna (MRNA), and Novavax (NVAX) surged as the coronavirus spread further.&nbsp;Meridian Bioscience&nbsp;(VIVO) also gained value following the announcement of efforts to develop a diagnostic tool (Lyo-Ready 1-Step RT-qPCR) for the&nbsp;Coronavirus outbreak.
What does this mean for Dyadic?
Dyadic is developing a proprietary C1 gene expression platform to improve manufacturing of biologics, including vaccines. Dyadic has collaborations with companies and instructions with great presence in vaccine field:

Through existing or new partnerships, in addition to in-house efforts, C1 technology may provide a cost-effective solution for the prevention and treatment of coronavirus infection. We continue to believe the C1 platform&#8217;s favorable potential in biologic manufacturing. We are reiterating our Outperform rating and $11.00 price target.
